......and into my kitchen.....
Lamb and pea pastries....
The recipe: (makes 12 little pies!)
200g all purpose flour
100g butter
60ml ice water
30ml olive oil
1 finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic
10ml garam masala
15ml corriander
1kg lamb meat in cubes
400g button mushrooms
200ml beef extract
250ml cream (it says lowfat..I used full cream)
280g frozen peas
salt and freshly ground pepper
Heat oven to 180degree C. Put flour and butter in food processor and on high speed mix until fine breadcrumbs. Add water slowly until the dough comes together in a ball. Refridgerate until cold.
Heat oil, add spices, onions and garlic and fry til golden brown. Add meat and mushrooms and brown.
Then add extract. Simmer until the meat is soft. Add the cream and frozen peas.
Cool. Line muffin pans with dough pressed with a cookie cutter.. Add meat mixture then top with smaller circles of dough. Press side together.Brush with egg wash and bake for 20 to 25mins until golden brown.
Enjoy!

Hi Shel, thank you for your visit this morning. I LOVE your header it is gorgeous. I love roses. Your post made me hungry. The pastry and the filling look delicious. Love the garden peas. When I was small we would all gather outside under a big tree and shell peas. You brought that memory back today.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
Hugs, Jeanne
